Ametrine Gemstones
Ametrine is a bi-color quartz from Bolivia. A mix of purple amethyst and golden citrine, the gem is usually cut to seperate the colors as close to half and half as possible. Some beautiful gems can be produced by allowing the colors to mix. This is one of the Earth's most unique gems and is surprisingly inexpensive for a gem with only one source in the World. Some care needs to be exercised when buying ametrine, as the Russians are making a synthetic ametrine, which is difficult for the novice to distinguish from the natural material.  Ametrine |
