The golden to yellow form of beryl. Hard and durable this gem comes from Brazil, Tajikistan, and Madagascar. Other sources have material that can be irradiated to the golden form usually very light colored aquamarine. The name heliodor means "gift of the sun". Most desirable when there is no secondary green colors. Most material is enhanced by irradiation. Natural colors are valued at 3 to 4 times that or irradiated gems. Madagascar produces the finest natural gems with the most vivid colors.  Heliodore
