Iolite Jewelry

This is a lovely gem with many similarities to tanzanite. Blue violet in color and hard enough for every day wear, this gem is just starting to be recognized. Prices have started to inch up and as tanzanite gets more expensive so will iolite. This gem was used by the Vikings for navigation as it can locate the sun on cloudy days or after sun set. It has also been used by Scandinavian Airlines before the time of satellite navigation.
