For many years the major source of peridot has been on the Apache reservation in Arizona. In the late 1990s, high in the Himalaya Mountains in the Kashmir region of Pakistan, a new source of the finest peridot ever mined was discovered. Due to heavy snow, mining is restricted to the month of September. Recent production has dropped off dramatically, and prices will soon reflect this decline. Large size and colors without the typical secondary yellows sets Pakistani peridot apart from other sources. A small percentage of the production is a minty, blue-green color. Don't miss adding this truly extra-ordinary peridot to your collection.
