14 kt white gold ring set with one .88 carat malaia garnet from Tanzania. Malaia also mispelled malaya is actually a Swahili would for prostitute also meaning outcast. Miners were hunting for rhodolite garnet and when this color was discovered the miners felt it was worthless and threw it out of the mine declaring it a malaia or worthless. As time went by this color became much more valuable than the rhodolite garnet. This actual gem is more peach color than pictured.
