With the highest refractive index of any of the birthstones other than diamond, zircons have become one of the most popular gems. This gem zircon is from a recent discovery in Mozambique . It is large for this rare color of zircon at 7.77 carats and measuring 10.7 millimeters in diameter by 7.3 millimeters deep. Si1 clarity (G.I.A. type II). Zircons are enhanced by heating.
