14K White Gold Round Cabochon Opal Ring

NOTIFY ME WHEN THIS SOMETHING SIMILIAR IS AVAILABLE:

Ladies' 14k white gold welo opal ring designed by Christopher Michael, our in house jewelry designer. This opal ring presents a round cabochon welo opal. The welo opal has a total weight of approximately .80 carats, measures 7 mm wide by 7 mm long, and is 4 prong set. In addition, there is one prong set ideal round brilliant cut diamond, F color, SI2 clarity, measuring 2 mm wide by 2 mm long with a weight of .04 carat. The ring weighs 4.4 grams. This welo opal ring was given a high polished finish. The band is centered with the opal on one side and the other side of the band swirls around the center stone being cut off with the accent diamond, adding just enough sparkle to the piece. This simple, yet elegant design can be worn for any occasion whether wearing more formal attire or casual wear. Welo opals are hydrophane, meaning they absorb liquids. Wearers of welo opal jewelry want to be extremely careful when handling certain liquids such as hairspray, lotions, hair dyes, etc. These opals will soak up the liquid and can ruin your ring. Water; however, will not harm your opal. Once the opal has soaked up water it will lose a lot of it's color. After 2 to 3 days of drying out all of the colors will return to the opal. This can be benifital as well. With Austrailian opals (not hydrophane) have a tendency to crack and/or craze. Australian opals, as opposed to the welo opal featured in this ring, should not be worn often. Temperatures can have negative effects on Australian opals as well. The discovery of welo opals has changed the world of opals. Now opals can be worn often because they are hydrophane, cracking will not be a problem with this ring. Welo opals are also more durable then their Australian counterparts. Tests by G.I.A. have shown that this opal is capable of withstanding drops to concrete from up to 4 feet with out damage. We do not recommend testing this but we have seen that this material is absolutely tougher then the Australian opal.
