"Darth Vader" Tanzanite Goes Viral

Over the years Steve Moriarty has had many of the stones he has cut go viral on sites live Reddit, Youtube and Imgur. This past week, Steve Moriarty cut an amazing Tanzanite gemstone and after showing it off on our social media channel, Reddit and Imgur, it too went viral. This was a beautiful 11.87ct Tanzanite with a rare red flash, which was awesome to see in person.

But...not because of its beauty or symmetry, but because it looked like Darth Vader. Now I don't think I would have personally saw this if someone didn't point it out, and Steve definitely didn't mean for it to look like Darth after he was done, but someone saw it...and then everyone saw it!

Within a few hours of being shared on Imgur, the stone had over 1,000,000 views by visitors to that website. And of course because of this, the Tanzanite gemstone with the likeness to Darth Vader sold quickly.
